All roads lead to Yorkdale for international retailers entering Canada

First-to-Canada and first-to-market retailers announce Yorkdale openings marking the beginning of an exciting 2013 for Canadian shoppers!

Toronto, ON – March 4, 2013 – Canadians will have access to more of the world’s leading fashion labels on home soil this year when Yorkdale introduces 12 new retailers to the shopping centre, including six first-to-Canada and three new-to-Toronto brands. Starting as early as March 2013, shoppers can expect an even richer retail mix from Canada’s leading fashion shopping destination.

“Canadian shoppers no longer need to travel to shop the world’s best brands,” said Yorkdale General Manager Anthony Casalanguida.  “Yorkdale continues to attract global brands as their entry point into the Canadian market because of the quality of our existing retail mix, real estate and access to much of the GTA’s population.”

Sought after global brands AllSaints, David Yurman, John Varvatos, Mulberry, White House|Black Market and Zara Home are entering the Canadian market in 2013 with locations at Yorkdale. Ferragamo will open its first Toronto boutique at Yorkdale, marking its second Canadian location. Other prominent new stores include Canada’s second Massimo Dutti and the country’s third Brandy Melville location, as well as fashion retailer honey and Stuart Weitzman. LEGO will be launching its 101st global location at Yorkdale this spring.

Holt Renfrew Yorkdale is in the process of doubling its current size, expanding to more than 120,000 square feet in August 2013 and Harry Rosen and The Bay will open redesigned locations in fall 2013.

Yorkdale revealed a $220 million 145,000 square foot expansion in November 2012 that included first-to-market retailers kate spade new york, LOFT Microsoft, Tesla Motors and Ted Baker London.

With more than 250 shops and services Yorkdale Shopping Centre is Canada’s premier shopping destination. Yorkdale recently underwent a $220 million expansion – the largest and most significant expansion in its history – growing to a total of 1.6 million square feet of retail space that features some of the world’s best fashion, technology and luxury brands.
