BRIKA | Well Crafted Gifts

BRIKA features modern crafts from a community of the most talented artisans and designers and opened a unique 3,000- square-foot holiday pop-up shop here at Yorkdale Shopping Centre! They offer a curated selection of original and well-crafted gifts, have a DIY corner, an event space for weekly workshops and a café serving artisanal goods.

“At BRIKA, we have a growing community of over 500 hand-selected artisans and designers that we connect with creative and conscientious consumers through the best in modern craft,” said Kena Paranjape, co-founder of BRIKA. “The Yorkdale pop-up is another avenue to inspire and cultivate a well-crafted lifestyle by engaging people from the moment they step into our space.”

The pop-up features gifts from many artisans exclusive to BRIKA in Canada, such as Bizu Jewelry, Meera Lee Patel and Designed by Artists. Other store components include:

  •   A DIY corner with a colouring wall designed by Brooklyn illustrator and BRIKA-maker Jacqueline Schmidt of Screech Owl Design, and a gift-wrapping station where people can creatively wrap their newly purchased gifts.Internal7
  •   An event space hosting customers, local artisans, tastemakers and bloggers during weekly workshops, sponsored by the new television channel Makeful.
  • A café, designed by Delica Kitchen’s Devin Connell, serving artisanal drinks and baked goods from Moo Milk Bar that customers can enjoy while shopping for giftsInternal2

BRIKA is also the first retailer in Canada to partner with CloudTags, an innovative technology where customers can use an integrated tablet to digitally explore product and artisan information, or build a wish list that can be emailed afterwards.

“There are so many unique elements to this pop-up that make for a retail experience unlike anything ever seen before,” said Jen Lee Koss, co-founder of BRIKA. “Our core consumers are inherently creative at heart and shopping for unique goods, participating in workshops or crafting in the DIY corner allows them to exercise that creativity.”
