In the midst of international Fashion Weeks, here’s our recap of the NYFW designers and design themes, featuring some of the cult classics that you’ll be able to find at Yorkdale.
The Michael Kors Fall 2015 collection does not disappoint! The theme? Opposites attract. The collection combines understated pieces with glamorous design elements. MK took pajama dressing to a new level, focusing on the details – embellishments and beading. The contradictions in this collection are crafted impeccably.
J.Crew was all about the fringe, faux fur and embellishments at New York Fashion Week. Much of the design inspiration comes from the 60’s and 70’s. The undeniable texture and colour in this collection – including intense yellow, pale pinks, blue violet and lush greys make it irresistible. P.S this collection features hand-beaded blazers and skirts! Amazing!
Tory Burch’s Fall 2015 collection includes stunning pieces focusing on embellishments, textures and patterns. Tory Burch flawlessly mastered the art of mixing bold patterns with more muted hues. Statement boots with metal and studs appeared throughout the show – the stovepipe boots are perfection; they work especially well with the longer hemlines seen in this collection.
Design cues from the 70’s continued with Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall collection. We saw a combination of preppy and glamour; wool ponchos and faux-fur jackets complimented with varsity stripes – true to the classic all-American brand.
