Toronto Fashion Week Recap by Nelia

04.02.15

RUDSAK (available at RUDSAK)

RUDSAK embraced the True North Spirit for Fall 2015, with a collection chock-full of practical, yet elegant coats. Colours ranged from rock’n’roll black, to military green – a natural and classic palette that is sure to please shoppers looking to invest in a timeless jacket. My personal standouts included a taupe swing coat with fur trim, all-over-leather puffer, and most of the shearling pieces. Staying warm has never looked so chic!

Mackage (available at Aritzia, Holt Renfrew, Mendocino)

For the last few seasons, Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan of Mackage have been consistently upping their game – getting better and better with each collection. And this one’s no exception. For Fall 2015, we saw a lineup of luxe moto jackets, belted wool coats, and those slim hooded parkas they do so well. Once again, there were plenty of bags to drool over – backpacks in various fabrics, and softer shapes introduced.

Pink Tartan (available at Holt Renfrew, Hudson’s Bay)

In a bit of a departure from her usual ladies-who-lunch aesthetic, Kimberley Newport-Mimran sent out an army of ladies-who-kick-ass down the cloud-lined runway instead. Sure, there were a few familiar pieces like her signature ladylike coats, but there were also belted military-green jackets, leather vests layered over floaty blouses and culottes, cardigans, dresses, and shirts with extra long sleeves.
